1 Day: Arrive in Arusha, Tanzania
Your guide will meet you at Kilimanjaro International Airport and escort you to tonight’s accommodations in Arusha. As local Tanzanians, our guides know the country with unrivaled familiarity, so you’ll be in good hands from the moment you land to the moment you leave.
Meals: Dinner
Accommodation: Designated standard, Comfort, Luxury or Deluxe Luxury lodge upon booking.
2 Day: Tarangire National Park
Head off for Tarangire National Park, where ancient baobab trees tower over some of the largest herds of elephants in all of Africa. Keep a lookout for the hundreds of bird species Tarangire is known for—and dramatic interactions between predator and prey at the park’s watering holes.
Tarangire is also home to buffalo, lion, wildebeest, zebra and gazelle and the park can rival Serengeti for sheer animal densities. What might you see today? Perhaps a solitary male lion stretched out beneath a tree, perhaps a trio of male cheetah enjoying some lazy bonding-time in the sun. Maybe some graceful Grant’s gazelle or zebra bounding away from the road or a couple of giraffe munching happily from the choicest acacia branches. For Tarangire specialties, look out for kudu and oryx.
You will thereafter drive to famous town of Karatu for dinner, hot shower and an overnight.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Accommodation: Designated standard, Comfort, Luxury or Deluxe Luxury lodge upon booking.
3 Day: Ngorongoro Crater
In the morning after breakfast we will drive from Karatu (lodging or camping at this area offers you early morning access to its wildlife-filled floor before any other safari-goers.) to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Ngorongoro Crater was formed from a collapsed volcano. It’s now a self-sustaining ecosystem with the densest predator population in all of Africa.
The crater has a population of around 120 lions, with well-defined territories; 15,000 wildebeest, 9,000 zebra, 400 hyenas, and around 50 black rhino. Many wildebeest and other herd animals are resident, benefiting from the many sources of year-round waters and are boosted by some migrators in season. Buffalo, Thomson’s gazelle and eland are also present in numbers.
Hippos can be found in pools and swampland and highland birdlife is colorful and plentiful around the waters. Flamingos can often be seen in Lake Magadi, which occupies part of the crater floor.
In the afternoon we will ascend the crater rim and check-out for our drive to Arusha. Upon reaching Arusha we will have a short rest and thereafter get connected to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight back home.
